Liability Insurance Policy covers liability of the vehicles’ owners and drivers for damage of body and/or death, and/or material damage to third parties in compliance with the applicable legislation.

 

The limit of liability is the same at all insurance companies, The insurance premium that should be paid in result of the events, which take place at the territory of Bulgaria, makes:

•    In case of an event when one person is injured – 1 000 000 BGN;
•    In case of an event when two and more persons are injured – 5 000 000 BGN;
•    In case of an event when damage is caused to property – 1 000 000 BGN.

Liability insurance contract should be settled for a one year term. All insurance companies offer installment payments and in most cases it does not bring to increase of the insurance premium.

Usually, the insurance companies offer two types of rates. The main one – for all transport vehicles, which do not leave the territory of Bulgaria, and the other one for the transport vehicles, which intend to leave the country’s territory.

In case you already have a Policy of Liability Insurance, which is valid at the territory of Bulgaria only, but plan to drive outside the country, you can extend your policy by paying extra, and after that the policy will be in effect at the territory of European Union or other countries.

 

When driving to the countries outside the territory of European Union, “Green Card” Certificate will be issued to the driver, either free or  priced from 1 to 10 Lev, depending on the insurance company.

“Green Card” Certificate covers civil liability of a transport vehicle’s driver for property and non-property damage to third parties as a result of the road accident occurred at the territory of the countries-members of “Green Card” Agreement.

 

“Green Card” Certificate can be issued in case you have a valid Transport Vehicle Liability Insurance Policy. Any client, who has a Policy of Liability Insurance, has the right to get a “Green Card” Certificate. Besides the countries of the European Union, the insurance is valid at the territories of Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Iceland and Norway. Civil liability of the insurance companies under this Policy is limited by the minimal limit in effect in the country, where an accident took place. “Green Card” Certificate is mandatorily required by the following countries: Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Croatia, Israel, Iran, Morocco, Moldova, Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey, Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro.

 

 

The cost of civil liability insurance depends on engine capacity, number of seats and type of car use. For the cars with engines of 2000 cubic cm capacity, the cost of insurance should not exceed 300 Lev. Besides, this sum can be reduced, if you pay for half a year and do not use your car in winter time.
