Vinetka

Annual charge for use of public roads (so called “Vinetka”) in 2011 will be the same as it was in 2010 in Bulgaria. It was announced by the State Agency “Road Infrastructure”.

Thus, the charges for the appropriate stickers that confirm payment made by a particular transport vehicle’s owner for the right to use public roads depending on the period of validity and type of transport vehicle are as follows:

Automobiles:
Week – 10 Lev;
Month – 25 Lev;
Year – 67 Lev.

Large-capacity vehicles with two and more axles – Euro 0, I and  II:
Week – 75 Lev.;
Month – 215 Lev.;
Year – 1300 Lev.

Buses with the number of passengers above 8:
Week – 43 Lev.;
Month – 117 Lev;
Year – 681 Lev.

One-day vinetka for the vehicles of high load capacity, irrespective of the category, makes 13 Lev.

You can buy vinetka at one of 3000 places in Bulgaria, where they are legally on sale. The most popular places to buy are gas stations.

Thus, vinetka is a sticker to be stuck on a wind shield to confirm that you have paid for driving on highways and first-class roads of Bulgaria. We have already told about the prices. Depending on the period of validity, the stickers are of different colors.

If you do not leave a town, you can drive without a sticker, since it is required for driving on inter-city roads only. You should also keep in mind that Bulgarian road policemen can fine you not only for absence of stickers, but for the expired stickers left on the wind shield.
